The Stabilisation Unit are a tri-departmental unit responsible for co-ordinating the UK’s conflict stabilisation efforts overseas. The Stabilisation Unit is responsible for deploying a variety of different people to hostile environments, including civil servants, police officers and civilian experts (non-civil servants).
Their Needs
The Stabilisation Unit engaged Acumen in 2005 to develop a system to assist inter-departmental planning – the Joint Stabilisation Planning Framework, or JSPF. Acumen worked with the Stabilisation Unit to ascertain the best working methods for the system. We decided upon a collaborative, web-based hierarchical planning system, with a focus on replicating the existing reporting techniques of associated government departments.
